Vancouver-Point Grey

David Eby

David Eby currently serves as the 37th Premier of British Columbia. He was sworn in on November 18, 2022, at a ceremony hosted by the Musqueam Nation—the first time a B.C. premier was sworn in at an event hosted by a First Nation. He was first elected as the MLA for Vancouver-Point Grey in 2013 and has since been re-elected three times. In 2017, he was appointed Attorney General, responsible for gaming and liquor policy and ICBC. In 2020, he also assumed responsibility for the housing portfolio.

Before entering public office, David worked as a human rights lawyer with Pivot Legal Society, served as executive director of the BC Civil Liberties Association, and was an adjunct law professor at the University of British Columbia. He holds a degree in English from the University of Waterloo and a law degree from Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law.

Raised in the suburbs of Ontario, David lives in Vancouver with his wife, a family doctor, and their three children. He steps away from the demands of day-to-day life by building pillow forts with his children, practicing yoga, and enjoying the beauty of the west coast.
